Settled in Newark & Sherwood is a new initiative to ensure that EU citizens who wish to remain in the Newark and Sherwood District after Brexit can do so by registering themselves and their families under the Government’s EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS).
All EU citizens who live in the UK or arrive before the end of the transition period (31st December 2020) and wish remain in the UK after Brexit will have to register under the EUSS. The deadline to apply is 30th June 2021. However, the scheme is open now and we are recommending that EU citizens register well before the deadline.
Under the Settled in Newark & Sherwood initiative we are reaching out to individuals and employers to get the message out and encourage those who have not already done so, to register.
What are we doing to achieve this?
Trained team of advisers
We have trained a team of volunteers who can help people register. If you wish to see a EUSS trained adviser call into our drop-ins during the following times:
Ollerton: Monday and Wednesday 9.30 -14.30
Newark: Tuesday and Thursday 9.30 – 14.30
Full details HERE.
We will be attending places of work with our stand to inform and promote registration. If you are a large employer based in Newark and Sherwood and want us to talk with your workforce, please contact our Development Manager on 01773 532291
Promoting wider knowledge of the need to register
We will be promoting an understanding of the need to register in the media and on social media. We want EU citizens who have made their homes in Newark & Sherwood to secure the right to do so after December 2020. More information on the EU Settlement Scheme can be found on the GOV.UK website:
