Postcode Lottery Community Trust

We are pleased to announce that Citizens Advice services in Broxtowe have been awarded a grant from the Postcode Lottery Community Trust. This comes as a direct result of the Millionaires Street draw on 18th May 2024 which saw Newthorpe win a £1 million prize. In addition to the lucky winners of Newthorpe local charities also benefited including Citizens Advice.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the People’s Postcode Lottery. Demand for our services has grown significantly during the cost-of-living crisis and this grant will help us bridge the gap. Operations Director, Sally Bestwick said; “this is a welcome grant that will help us meet the ever increasing need for advice in Broxtowe. Last year we helped almost 8,000 people with the problems they faced. We are so pleased that we and a number of local charities have benefited from the draw. This is a welcome boost for the local voluntary sector during difficult times”

Volunteers Week

#VolunteersWeek

Volunteers’ Week 2024 (3-9 June) is here, this year we celebrate 40 years of Volunteers’ Week.

Volunteers are central to our ability to help people with the problems they face. In Broxtowe our volunteers are involved in advice work, reception duties and administration tasks. Many of our volunteers use the experience to gain new skills that lead to employment.

Full training is provided. If you are interested in volunteering for Citizens Advice follow the link below:

Citizens Advice services Central Nottinghamshire

Citizens Advice services in Ashfield, Broxtowe and Newark & Sherwood have joined forces to secure a stronger and more resilient organisation for the future. The three charities have merged to form Citizens Advice Central Nottinghamshire. Each district will retain its distinctive services and locations. It will also remain the case that projects dedicated to Broxtowe will continue to operate as before.

It is hoped that by merging to form a larger charity the organisation will remain relevant to changing funding structures in Nottinghamshire and the East Midlands. Improved management capacity will come by formalising the sharing of resources that has been in existence for a number of years.

This means that on the ground Citizens Advice Broxtowe will retain its offices in Eastwood, Beeston and the outreach service in Stapleford. Key projects like the wellbeing service (Early Intervention worker), Financial Resilience, Advice on Prescription, Trussell Trust Partnership and resident debt and housing caseworkers will remain in the Borough as before. We will continue to work with local partners to provide the best possible outcomes for Broxtowe residents.
